Who is Microdermabrasion suitable for

A suitable candidate for Microdermabrasion includes those with sun damaged, dull or acne-prone skin, fine superficial scarring, skin wrinkles, enlarged pores, comedones (white/black heads) and/or milia.

As this procedure only affects the epidermis (the superficial layer of skin comprised of dead skin cells), this is a very safe procedure for all skin types.

Microdermabrasion is not recommended if you suffer skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema, active sunburn, herpes, lupus, open sores, psoriasis, fragile capillaries or widespread acne. It is also not effective for deeper problems for example surgery/burn scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, or deep acne scars. Please get in touch to see which other treatments may be beneficial to you.

How does microdermabrasion work

This comfortable exfoliation method uses a variety of coursed diamond tipped hand pieces to smooth and buff over the skins surface removing dead skin cells whilst cleaning the pores of any debris. As the hand piece is glided across the skin to exfoliate the outer layers of your skin we are enabling the production of new collagen and elasticity, providing visible rejuvenation, leaving your skin feeling squeaky clean and satisfyingly refreshed

The tips come with many course varieties and will determine the depth of the abrasion and pressure applied from the hand piece to the skins surface .  This will be discussed between yourself and therapist as we look to address any skin conditions or concerns.

What is expected after my session

Microdermabrasion treatments require no downtime enabling you to return to your normal routine and apply light cosmetics directly after treatment. You may experience a slight tightness and/or minor redness at the treatment location (similar to a windburn) immediately post treatment.

It is important to protect your skin from the sun, keeping the skin hydrated with a good quality moisturiser and follow the post-treatment care instructions provided to you will help to maintain the best results.

When can I expect to see results

Microdermabrasion results are immediate. The skin will be noticeably smoother with a refreshing glow and radiance after just one Microdermabrasion treatment.

As skin cell turnover is a constant process, results are temporary and a series of treatments at regular intervals is recommended to maintain and improve results.
