How does plasma pen work?

Plasma skin tightening is an extremely accurate treatment that uses plasma to eliminate excess or unwanted skin. The device works by utilising the voltage in the air between its tip and the atmospheric gases. This process forms a plasma charge which instantly shrinks the unwanted skin. The plasma pen is positioned close enough to the surface, so a plasma arc is created onto the skin, stimulating an instant contraction and tightening of skin fibres called sublimation.

During treatment, the device leaves a series of tiny dots running alongside the tension lines of the skin. The process triggers an instant contraction and tightening of the skin fibres creating a lifting, remodelling and rejuvenating effect.

The outer skin layers vaporised by the plasma do not burn off and instead flake off at a later date as part of the healing process.

The treatment is non-surgical, non-invasive, and some procedures are performed in as little as 30 minutes, depending on the area treated.

Due to the nature of the treatment, the plasma pen will leave minuscule brown spots on the treated section, like very tiny scabs, for a short while. Do not apply makeup to the area for a few days. What is expected after plasma pen / fibroblast skin tightening

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience a warm sensation which will cool over the remainder of the day. Over the next couple of days, you may experience slight swelling, particularly around the eye area as this is most delicate. You can apply a cold compress for short periods of time to reduce swelling. Anti-histamines or anti-inflammatory medication may also relieve the swelling.

Crusting will usually develop as the contracted skin is healing, which will drop over the following days. This is all part of the healing process. Everybody is different, so this can take anywhere between 5-14 days. Oxygenated foundation can also be applied to the area 48 hours post-treatment. Please ask us for details. When can I expect to see results from plasma pen / fibroblasting treatment?

You will generally see immediate tightening along with continued improvements over the next three months in the appearance of saggy skin. In some cases, it may require more than one session, depending on the desired results.

Plasma Pen is considered more than a skin tightening treatment, as the skin’s volume is reduced. Results can last up to two years. Results from the non-invasive procedure will be noticeable immediately after your first treatment, but the final results reveal after eight weeks.

Depending on the treatment, additional treatment may be required but only after eight weeks to see full results. No more than two treatments are usually needed.
